On behalf of the Economic and Social Council of the Republika Srpska, President of the UEARS Predrag Zgonjanin will participate in an international tripartite conference on “The Role of ESC-SI and social dialogue in the promotion of basic social protection, organized by the International Labour Organization (ILO), the International Association of Economic and Social Councils and similar Institutions (AICESIS) and the Commission for Economic and Social Development of Korea.

The conference will be held as an extension of the Cooperation Agreement, which was signed AICESIS and ILO on 8th May 2012. The Agreement is the recognition of two complementary institutions that consultation, exchange of information and organizing joint activities significantly strengthens the promotion of issues of mutual interest, including social dialogue, the Global Jobs Pact, the development of participatory democracy and the social dimension of globalization and the basics of social protection.

The event will bring together representatives from ESC-SI from all over the world and experts from international organizations such as the International Monetary Fund, World Bank, ILO, AICESIS members as well as national tripartite institutions that are not part of AICESIS.

Participants at the conference in Seoul will examine the roles, challenges, and opportunities faced by institutions for social dialogue at the national level in the promotion of basic social protection.
Also, they will exchange experiences and best practices that will improve the effectiveness of social dialogue institutions in the formulation and implementation of such policies. Furthermore, the conference will facilitate discussion on the promotion of partnerships and cooperation among ESC-SI from different countries and the support of the ILO and AICESIS in this regard.

To facilitate dialogue, the ILO and AICESIS are preparing a basic document for the conference.
The organizers strongly encourage ESC-SI to include representatives of employers and workers in their delegations, to ensure tripartite debate and principles of tripartism in the conference.

This conference will be held on 20 and 21 November 2014 in Seoul, Republic of Korea.
